Busy, Busy, Busy Me!

I cannot believe it's already 23rd Dec. No new post for almost 2 weeks. I've been busy with office works that leave me exhausted to update this blog.

I'm just so tired I can't go into sewing these past weeks. But I got a lot of inspirations; from blogger land to shopping malls, for sewing project to home decorations. Stay tuned!

Three Years

Today marks our three years anniversary.  Three years of wedded bliss. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful, caring, loving and handsome (ahem) husband in my life. I can't imagine life without you.

I am excited to experience many, many, many more anniversary's in the years to come.

Next year would be our big 1-0 love relationship.  Oh my, 10 years. Dear Mr. Ariff, maybe a second honeymoon would be perfect? *hint*

It is called Petal Top, to me it's PJ's

I bought a book at Kinokuniya, KLCC last week.  It was Emma Hardie's book named making children's cloth. The book was worth every rm. I am so wanna  sew all the clothes and kids accessories in the book.

It came along with a pattern which means 'yay' for me.  No need to draft pattern from old existing cloth as a guide (as i normally did and it works).

First try was this Petal Top, which to me it's a PJ's for Raisya.  It has long sleeve, suitable for night wear.  Raisya doesn't have a sleepwear.  All her sleepwear are normal T-shirt and pant which can be worn during the day. So i consider this as her PJ's.

The fabric for the top is from Fabric Fanatics, which i bought and posted last month.

The legging she's wearing is made from RM5 XL shirt i bought at Carrefour, KD.

Enjoy Raisya's many faces when i asked her to be a model and pose for the camera.

"I am confused with mama.  What is she trying to do?
Asking me to stand on this chair? It's wheely mama!"

"Never mind. I smile. Are you happy?"

"You're happy. I'm not!"

Sorry darling, you're my model forever. Keep smiling!

Is she laughing or crying? Tell me.

Gathered Sash Dress

Phew! Finally, I've finished sewing this dress.  It took me almost a day to finish.  Something went wrong yesterday, I didn't know why. To make the gathered sash itself took me twice of cutting, sewing and pressing. But it's worth every efforts.

This dress is made specially for Raisya to wear on her aunt wedding, a day after this coming Christmas.  It is so-called 'flower girl dress' for Raisya since the wedding theme is purple.

Oh, i almost forgot.  Did you notice anything wrong at the bottom of the dress? Haha.. I dont' want to hem the skirt simply because:

First: I am lazy like that.

Second: I think its kinda short, then I just send finish the seam's edges at a local sewing supplies store here in KD ( so it won't take much fabric rather than hemming)

The fabric i used for the dress is viscose. It's really soft and flowy. I think it's very comfortable to wear all day long.

Ok guys!  Stay tuned for more new and fun kids clothing as I am working really hard on it. (kids clothing? well, it's actually my daughter's clothing)

My attempt to sell

How about these lovely trio? Would i be able to sell?

I made these "Sweet Strap Dress" last weekend in my first attempt to sell my handmade items.  They were so easy and so much fun to make especially once i master how to sew bias strap on the curve.

I had no idea how to embellish the dress so i put the 'yoyo' on two of the dresses. All these are in 2T size. Why 2T? It's simply because my daughter would be happy to wear them if they didn't sell.

Interested? Please let me know :D

Note:  All dresses were taken. For the pink dress, i added yoyo as requested. Thank you D and K.Wan.

Home Sweet Home

We will be moving to Cheras next year. To our own little house. Though i have plenty of decoration plans/ideas for the house, i'm a bit hesitant to leave Kota Damansara.

I love KD for so many reasons. Its near to Mutiara Damansara which houses Ikea, Ikano, The Curve, Tesco and Cineleisure.  Its very well-connected and makes shopping a breeze. KD itself is well-connected through NKVE and DUKE highways, which makes 'balik kampung' easier and faster.

Oh, I'm not loving KD just for the sake of shopping. Shopping mall is not a reason for my hesitation. I just couldn't believe that I will say goodbye to my babysitter. My hubby and I never had a problem with our babysitter.  Raisya too. I don't know if i can find somebody like her.

Back to my decoration plans, lotsa inspirations can be found at www for our little house.

Our existing sofa is purple in colour.  Since we're in tight budget, we will keep the sofa. I just need to put small pillows like the image found at Design Sponge and Juicy Bits to spice it up. Just find a good print and voila!

For the bedroom, I'm inspired by this image found HERE. Most of the things are thrift finds.  How clever!

All of the areas to decorate, definitely my sewing room is my first priority.
I have been dreaming to have my own sewing studio which will only be fulfilled once i move to our new house.

Here some of the images which makes me cry, literally. Cry out of jealousy.

Baju Kurung Pahang

My friend aka my colleague, Mimie asked me to sew 'Baju Kurung Pahang' for her after I've sewn two for my other colleagues.

She gave me somewhere in the middle of October (if i'm not mistaken). She said she wanted to wear it during Eidul Adha.

BTW, before i continue, sewing for adult is not my cup of tea. I take order like this because i don't want to turn them down. I prefer to sew for little ones since it's easy. I am not a seamstress by profession. Plus, my sewing skills in traditional attire is very limited. Remember this post. I learned it for about three months only. The rest comes naturally to me :p

So continue with the story, being tired/lazy myself, i kept putting off sewing this baju until today. I just finished sewn the baju sans hand stitches on the hem. I thought of sewing the skirt until late of the nite. But my shoulder asked me to stop. Sorry Mimie!

I doubt my measurement skills. I hope it fits her perfectly. Like Raisya's 1st Baju Kurung. I made it for her 1st Eidul Fitri celebration last year. She was 5+ months. It's a scrap fabric from my baju raya. Haha, there goes matchie matchie.

Ah, Mama missed your bald head, darling!

Multi Purpose Case

What do you want to put in the case? To me, I have no idea yet.  I'm very tempted to use the fabric even i have no specific idea to go with the fabric yet. I ended up making this case. Case like this is very easy to make.  If you're  an experienced sewers, you can make many of it within a short period of time.

For beginner sewers, please try this tute.

I think i want to put my make-up or my zippers, or my  bias tape or small meds like vicks, minyak yuyi, calamine cream etc. See. I can't decide. Or should i make more of it. Anyone want one?

Sweet Strap Dress

Isn't it sweet? Sweet like caramel.  I made this dress from a very cheap fabby found at Nagoya, Jalan TAR. What i don't like is the iron-on patch that i put onto the dress. It makes the dress really cheap-looking to me! The patch was bought at  Flea Market The Curve at not so cheap price of RM11.  Emm...I should have keep it for other projects ~sigh~

By the way, look at the face of the dress owner. She seems very happy with her new dress, right!  BUT, look at the face below.  The 'i don't want to be a model at 7.15 in the morning and pose in front of fridge' face. Hahaha. Poor little darling being forced to model her momma's creation.

On another point, quality of the pics makes me scream for new camera. DSLR?

Fabric Shopping

I'm craving right not. Nope. Not for ice-cream but for fabric.
Fabric shopping makes me happy.
Fabric shopping pushes my stress way.

And this is my latest collection of fabbies.

Cute japanese cotton fabrics i purchased through
online store called Fabric Fanatics.

I bought 3 yards of cotton and linen just to test the water.
I've feel and I've used designer fabric before but not japanese linen.
I think i couldn't find it anywhere in our local store.
I think it makes cute gathered clutch since its thicker than cotton.
Maybe I can use it for my first giveaway
to a lucky reader of this blog (if there is any!) :D

Clutch for Me!

I can spend many hours blog hopping at night,
when my baby sleeps.
The time which i can actually use to do something productive
instead of going 'ooh' and 'aah' over others blog.
After several nights of blog hopping,
i decided to make this clutch for myself.

Tutorial can be found HERE at Noodlehead.
It is a very easy to follow instruction and you can do this in 1-hour time.

I purchased the fabric at Bandung during my visit there in Nov '09.
There were plenty of fabrics called 'Katun Jepang' in Indonesia.
I managed to buy a lot of cotton because of the price .
I didn't bother to check the name of the fabric at that time
as long as its cute to my eyes.
As i was cutting the fabric to make the clutch,
i was shocked to see it was Alexander Henry Fabric
"my secret garden"  collection.
Wow! This must be crazy. I want to go to Bandung now.

Note to dear hubby, if you read this, please allow me to fly to Bandung again!

Buttoned Jumper Dress

This is a very simple buttoned jumper dress that I made for Raisya.
It can be worn alone or with legging.
I love the colour of the dress and the button.

That's my label. Ngee....
*Handwritten label using fabric pen*
kojodesigns shared this tutorial on their blog.
I have a plan to have my own woven label,
but i am not sure whether it is the right time to have one at this point of time.
what do you think? should i order it now or later.

( i have been dreaming to have my own booth at a bazaar/online shop,
so i want the label very badly-
will my dream come true?)
Insya Allah

Military Inspired Dress

I bought this shirt at 'uptown kd' for 5 ringgit. It was L in size that would fit normal 7-8 years old kid. I bought it because i love the color and because, hey, its five ringgit 'maybe i can do something with it!'

Then, as i was searching for an idea to refashion it, i found this piece from pumpkin patch.

nautical stripe and denim dress
and i was like, yep, i can do this. So this morning, i tried it and i was extremely happy when it turned out like this.

With 5 ringgit plus rm1.80 for the button and not to mention daddy's old black shirt, i made this beautiful dress at a fraction of pumpkin patch price. haha, clever. me like it!

scha like it too..
